What is Tesofensine?
Tesofensine is a serotonin–noradrenaline–dopamine reuptake inhibitor from the phenyltropane family of drugs, which is being developed for the treatment of obesity.
Tesofensine functions primarily as an appetite suppressant, but possibly also acts by increasing resting energy expenditure. According to research, it also boasts other effects on fat oxidation, enhancing weight loss. Scientists say the Tesofensine peptide has a modulating action on dopamine – often called the “happy hormone” – as it affects the pleasure sensation involved with food consumption.

How Does Tesofensine Work?
The tesofensine capsules help to suppress appetite and boost metabolic rate. Studies prove tesofensine’s effectiveness in treating obesity.
One study found that participants all saw a noticeable difference when taking tesofensine, including an overall 5-10% reduction in body weight.
Everything from body fat to waist and hip circumference was also reduced, as was BMI.
From what research shows so far, tesofensine results go beyond weight loss benefits. Some of its reported effects include improved cognition, memory, and learning, which is why the peptide is also studied for its effects on depression and cognitive decline.
It’s important to emphasize that the benefits of tesofensine should be evaluated in the context of comprehensive lifestyle changes, including a balanced diet and regular physical activity.
Key Benefits of Tesofensine
Tesofensine has demonstrated the potential to promote significant weight loss in clinical trials, exceeding the effects of a placebo. It may help suppress appetite, reduce food cravings, and increase metabolic rate, contributing to weight reduction.
Improved Metabolic Parameters
In addition to weight loss, tesofensine has shown positive effects on other metabolic parameters, such as waist circumference, body fat percentage, blood pressure, and lipid profiles. These improvements suggest potential benefits for overall metabolic health.
Reduction in appetite
Those reported a greater level of satiety and less desire to eat. And also, an increase in fat oxidation and reduction in fat tissue.
Clinical Research and Trials
Patients lost an average of 12.8 kg on 1 mg dose
Phase II trial results reported in The Lancet showed levels of weight loss over a 6-month period that were significantly greater than those achieved with any currently available drugs. Patients lost an average of 12.8 kg on the 1 mg dose, 11.3 kg on the 0.5 mg dose, and 6.7 kg on the 0.25 mg dose, compared with a 2.2 kg loss in the placebo group.
In a double-bind trial with 203 people (with half given a placebo), those taking the placebo had lost 2.0% of body weight while those taking the medication with the active ingredient had experienced far more successful results.
For those taking the lowest dose of 0.25 mg, the average weight loss was 6.5%, those taking the medium dose of 0.5% lost 11.2% and those taking the highest dose of 1 mg lost 12.6%. In the two highest dose groups, the treatment led to a 4-point drop in BMI in a period of 24 weeks.
How long does tesofensine take to work?
Patients being treated with Tesofensine also displayed the following positive results: Reduction in appetite sensations within a period of 14 days, with those being treated reporting a greater level of satiety and less desire to eat.
Is tesofensine a peptide?
Tesofensine is the newest game-changing peptide for weight loss! As a serotonin-noradrenaline-dopamine reuptake inhibitor, tesofensine works at the level of the brain by suppressing appetite and increasing resting energy expenditure (your basal metabolic rate).
What are the side effects?
In general, the safety profile of tesofensine is similar to currently approved medications for the treatment of obesity. The most commonly reported side effects in the obese population were dry mouth, headache, nausea, insomnia, diarrhea and constipation.
